Girls’ soccer team falls in semifinal match

Lake Highland Prep defeated West Shore 2-0 in the District 8 girls’ soccer semifinal match Thursday night on the Lady Wildcats’ home turf. Goalkeeper Meagan Larsen had eight saves as the Lady Wildcats’ season ended their season with a 15-8-1 record.

“I thought we played really hard and we fought all 80 minutes of the game,” senior and captain Erica Sheedy said, “We just got unlucky in the end of the game, but I’m really proud of everyone and I could’t have asked for a better season.”

The game was a close match with neither of the teams scoring in the first half.

“I have mixed emotions about tonight,” assistant varsity Coach Chuck Keener said. “I hate that we lost, but every one played their best. It came down to them making some shots and we didn’t, but I am very proud of have far our team went.”

Last Friday, the girls defeated  Satellite High 3-1 to win the district championship.
