Cross country racks up personal times

The boys’ varsity cross country team placed 17th and the girls’ varsity placed 31st and almost the entire time achieved personal records in the flrunners.com Invitational held Saturday in Titusville.

“Even though our team didn’t finish how we would have liked, I’m proud of everyone for trying their best even with our top two runners absent,” varsity runner Lexi Krehbiel said. “I was really happy with the results of the race based on individual times because everyone on the girls’ team got a [personal record].”

Both the boys’ and girls’ competed in the invitational category, which consisted of some of the best runners in the state.

“It’s really encouraging that I got 17:05 in the meet because it’s only 4 seconds off of my time at State last season,” varsity runner Jacob Smite said. “Since I’ve already reached my [personal record] from last year, so early in this season it shows that I have a lot of room for improvement for the rest of this season and that all of my hard summer training is paying off.”
