Boys and girls’ track prepares for first meet

The first track meet of the season is scheduled for Feb. 15 at Rockledge High School at 4 p.m.

“Since we have a lot of new members this year, we’re trying something a little different; we are having each of the members try out each event so we can see which suits their abilities best,” Coach Jason Whitworth said. “Out of all of the events, I think that our distance programs is looking the strongest. It helps a lot that we have cross country runners coming out because they are already conditioned.
It will be an official meet and will consist of the usual events, which include shot put, discus, long jump, triple jump, high jump, pole vault, hurdles, relays, sprinting, middle distance and long distance.

“We’ve been training vigorously and from what I’ve noticed everyone is persistent in each workout,'” senior and captain Michael Field said. “We don’t have as many members this year, but due to all of the dedication put forth I think that it’ll end up being a good season, with records to be set.”
