Junior Greg Darnell placed first in individual competition Monday.

The boys’ golf team earned fourth place Monday at the Class 1A District 12 tournament held at Suntree Country Club.

Edgewood placed first, Holy Trinity second and Melbourne Central Catholic took third. Junior Greg Darnell won the individual medalist award for West Shore scoring an overall 73, beating Holy Trinity’s runner-up Brandon Schwab by 2 on the final hole.

“I was excited that I won as an individual but I missed some shots that I could’ve made. It’s a learning process and whatever happens, happens.” Darnell said. “As a team I thought we did OK, definitely better than last year. We are a young team and will definitely improve for next year.”

The girls’ golf districts are being held at Crane Creek on Tuesday. Sophomore golfer Kumari Naicker-Giles is expecting big things.

“We prepared a lot on weekends and the days before each game,” Naicker-Giles said. “I feel that we have a chance of winning because we have beaten all of the teams before except MCC.”
