Three run in Sebastian invitational

Senior Austin Camps, junior Jared Hayes and sophomore Austin Hayes ran in the Bill Wilson invitational track meet at the Sebastian River High School on Saturday.  The entire team didn’t compete in this meet because of how long and far away the meet is, according to the assistant coach Nancy Hayes.

Jared Hayes ran in the 800-meter run and placed 4 out of 58 runners with a time of 2:00.21.

“I felt really good going into the race even though the conditions were not optimal, but I placed well,” Hayes said. “I am still first in the district and second in the county so I am not sure if I will make it to states.”

Jared’s brother Austin also competed in the 800-meter run. He ran it in 2:15.38, placing 31 out of the 58 runners.

“I was happy because I got a new personal best by .15 seconds even though it was hot and windy,” Austin said, “Although this is not the event I will probably be running in the postseason, it makes me feel good about what I will run.”

The next meet will be held this Friday in the Melbourne Central Catholic high school track.
