Students to be released early April 27, May 18

Students will be released from school at 2:15 p.m. April 27 and May 18 so teachers can learn how use their new equipment.

“Teachers are leaders of learning, and when teacher stop learning, students stop learning,” Principal Rick Fleming said.

The new teacher contract, which took effect this week, states that teachers will be provided with time to learn how to use their new technology. The original plan called for teachers attend classes on weekends, but when teachers rejected that idea, the school board then decided to shorten instructional time during two school days. The bus scheduled has been altered to accommodate the move.

“I think doing [the training] during the school-day is probably the best way to allow time for the instruction of teachers without having too much of an effect on the students,” career research teacher Jim Peterson said.
