Rain forces State Cup delay

This past weekend, many boys U17 soccer teams, including sophomores Chase Hester and Collin Robidoux’s Indialantic team, had a cancellation of state cup games in Fort Myers on Sunday due to a rain flooding the fields the night before.

The team played Saturday at 10 a.m., losing 2-1 to Pinecrest, a team from Miami.

“I was really disappointed in the loss,” Hester said. “We were all over them during the second half, but we couldn’t find a way to put the ball in the net. Now we just have to move on to the next game and being that it was canceled on Sunday, the team has the opportunity to figure out what we need to do to win so we can move on to the Sweet 16 round of State Cup. ”

Robidoux also had some thoughts regarding the cancellation of the Sunday game.

“I’m mad about the game being cancelled because that means we have to drive to Fort Myers again next weekend to play the makeup game,” he said. “But right now every team in our group has three points so this next game determines if we stay in state cup or not. Right now, the team needs to worry more about this next game rather than the long drive that comes with it.

The makeup game will be in Fort Myers on Saturday at 10 a.m.
