Media center collects new books

The media center recently acquired new books as part of the Florida Teen Reads program.

“We have copies of the Florida Teens Read books for 2011 and also copies of the 2011 Sunshine State books for grades 6-9,” media specialist Amy Franco said via email.

The Florida Teen Reads program is part of a bigger program called Florida Association for Media in Education. The goal is to provide students with a network where they can read quality books and then discuss them online.

“It’s really cool because you can vote on different kinds of books,” seventh-grader Jenna B. said.

Those books include “Split” by Swati Avasthi, “Maze Runner” by James Dashner and “Borderline” by Allan Statton.

“I thought the book collection was good because at my oId media center we never had this many books,” Jenna B. said.

According to their website, Florida Association for Media in Education’s vision is to be a collaborative and responsive network for library media professionals and their students.
