The jazz band will head to Apopka for state competition Friday  to perform a combo among Florida’s best jazz musicians.

“I haven’t been to state, but we played at the county level,” said senior Jacob Booe, who plays bass guitar. “It should be fun. It’ll be similar to state but with other groups that will challenge us.”

Combo members River Grace, James Crown, Joel Souchek, Juan Carlos Pascual-Barragan, Dominic Delgado and Booe will be judged on their performance.

“I have nothing but high hopes for them,” junior Max Kohlstedt said. “Every single musician in jazz band is a very talented individual, and I think they’ll come back with an exceptional rating.”
