Club volleyball teams prepare for Junior Nationals

As the volleyball club season starts coming to a close, coaches and players are beginning to prepare for the AAU Girls’ Junior National Volleyball Championships scheduled for June 14-22 at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports and the Orange County Convention Center.

“The tournament is open to any club team in the the U.S. and Puerto Rico and it opens the players up to more competition with different teams that they haven’t played at their local tournaments,” South Brevard Spirit Volleyball Club director Bonnie Priester said.

There are no qualifications required for a team to participate, although all players must be AAU members. The per-team entry fee must be paid before May 10.

“The national tournament has definitely been one of the best and most productive competitions that our club team has played in,” club coach Niki Anagnostis said. “Also, there are a lot of college coaches that like to come and watch so it could really help any players that might want to play after high school.”
