AP students sample Old World cusines

To reflect on their studies about the Colombian  Exchange, Advanced Placement World History students recently brought in different food from the Old World and had to incorporate one of the four vegetables that they were assigned including corn, potatoes, tomatoes and bell peppers.

“We did the banquet because we were studying the Colombian Exchange and what was brought to and from the Old World,” freshmen Siena Failla said. “I was assigned maize and made Chinese corn soup.”

Freshmen Grace Novak enjoyed tasting different cuisines from various cultures and backgrounds.

“It was a new experience to try homemade foods from other people’s perspective,” Novak said. “There were stuffed bell peppers, rice and curry, pasta with gnocchi sauce, potato bread and tomato soup.”
