5K run fund-raiser to be held Saturday at Wickham Park

The Pikes Peak 5K Run for a Cure is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at Wickham Park in Melbourne.  All proceeds will benefit the Scott Center for Autism Treatment.

Registration as well as the race packet pickup will be available at Running Zone across the street from the Wickham BCC Pavilion on Friday from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

“The race packets also contain a shirt for all participants along with any promotional or free items from our sponsors,” race director Tom Veltri said via email.

The award ceremony for the top three overall runners, top masters runners, top wheelchair and the top three runners for each of the 16 age groups will be held directly after the race.  All top runners will receive an award.  At 8:45 a.m. there will be free breakfast and additional activities.

“The breakfast will have all the basic breakfast foods, and we also are planning on having some picnic games such as cornhole afterwards as well,” Veltri said.

Veltri also encouraged others to run their own fund-raisers to help support the Scott Center for Autism Treatment.
